Rutgers-Newark’s Suarez, Ramapo’s Meyer and Cascone Earn NJAC Men’s Volleyball Weekly Honors

PITMAN — The New Jersey Athletic Conference has announced its men’s volleyball weekly award winners for the week ending Feb. 9.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MICHAEL SUAREZ • Rutgers-Newark
Freshman • Outside Hitter • Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill High School
Suarez earns his first career NJAC Player of the Week honor. The freshman outside hitter had a breakout performance, totaling 49 kills (3.5 per set), 54 points (3.9 per set), and 17 digs across four matches. He shined in a 19-kill, 20-point effort in a four-set victory over Elizabethtown, hitting .406 in the match. Suarez also posted 13 kills and four digs in a sweep of Arcadia and nine kills against nationally fourth-ranked Juniata.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JOJO MEYER • Ramapo College
Senior • Setter • Lindenhurst, NY / Lindenhurst
Meyer is named NJAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week. The senior setter was an all-around force for the Roadrunners, tallying 62 assists (10.33/set), 10 digs (1.67/set), and three blocks in a 1-1 week. He recorded 37 assists, six digs, and two blocks in a straight-set win over Drew and followed with 25 assists and four digs in a loss to Hunter. Meyer also contributed offensively, hitting .500 with four kills over the two matches. He currently ranks second in the NJAC in assists (8.77/set) and seventh in digs (1.73/set).
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
BRADY CASCONE • Ramapo College
Freshman • Outside Hitter • Commack, NY / Commack
Cascone collects NJAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week. The freshman outside hitter led Ramapo with 20 kills (3.33/set) and 21 total points (3.50/set) in a 1-1 week. He had a standout performance against Drew, delivering 12 kills while hitting .409, adding three digs and an ace in a sweep. Cascone also notched eight kills and three digs in a loss to Hunter. The rookie currently ranks third in the NJAC in kills (3.15/set) and fourth in both points (3.46/set) and hitting percentage (.279).
