Werder Bremen’s Marvin Ducksch reacts to the handball given to Bayern Munich to open the scoring: “They wouldn’t have given it to us.”

On the defeat on Friday evening, Ducksch said:

“We threw everything into it and defended everything away,”

“I would have liked to have continued watching the game if the penalty had not been awarded to make it 1-0. Would we be able to get through it with a 0-0 draw or even a pinprick? We had defended relatively well up until then and had not allowed any clear goal chances. It was all the more annoying how we fell behind.”
“They wouldn’t have given it to us.”

Goalkeeper Michael Zetterer had a similar view on the handball:

“He (Anthony Jung) doesn’t see the ball and gets it on his hand from 0.2 cm. A very similar scene (happened) a few weeks ago against Augsburg , where we didn’t get a penalty like that when the score was decisive. Today Bayern gets it. It’s a sore spot at the moment.”

After the first penalty for Bayern, Bremen never really got back into the game and Bayern would score again through Leroy Sané to make it 2-0. Harry Kane would score another penalty late on to make it 3-0, this time the penalty was a lot more clear when being awarded.

The performance from Bayern was also something not to write home about, it has been a trend since the early stages of the season where the Rekordmeister have looked progressively worse in their wins, except for anomalies against RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim.
