Mark Krommenacker is transitioning from a Patriot to a Mustang.

Krommenacker resigned as head coach of Appleton East on Thursday to become the head football coach at Little Chute. Krommenacker was 18-41 in his seven seasons at East, including a playoff berth in 2019.

The Patriots were 2-7 this past season and started the season 2-0, including a 6-0 victory over traditional Division 2 power Kettle Moraine.

Appleton East was 4-3 in the 2020 alternate spring season and 6-4 in 2019 to account for the two winning seasons under Krommenacker.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Coach Krommenacker for his (seven) years of dedicated service to the Appleton East community and football program,” Appleton East activities director Sam Engelland said. “His commitment and leadership have made a lasting impact on our student-athletes and school community. We wish him all the best in his future. As we look forward, the search for a new head coach will begin. The position will be posted in the near future.”

Little Chute has been a solid program under recently departed coach Ted Evers. The Mustangs were 38-23 in six seasons under Evers, reaching the postseason in each season.

Evers’ best season with Little Chute was a state quarterfinal berth in Division 4 in 2022 in which the Mustangs finished 11-1 overall.

“There are great teams in this conference and it will be a battle every week, but this isn’t a team that needs rebuilding,” Krommenacker said in a Little Chute Area School District news release. “Coach Evers has continued the long line of successful football here and I’m going to bring my energy and passion and find more ways to be intentional in everything we do.”

Neenah hires Kevin Baetke as boys soccer coach

Kevin Baetke has been hired as the head boys soccer coach at Neenah High School, according to a news release from the school.

Baetke has 13 years of experience coaching in the Fox Valley Association, having guided Oshkosh North from 2007 to 2019. He compiled a 137-109-32 record that included four regional titles. He was named Fox Valley Association coach of the year in 2016 and 2019.

According to the release, Baetke has been involved with the Neenah Soccer Club and has coached teams from U9 through U17. He also coached a team to a state league title in 2021.

Baetke takes over for Martin Valenzuela, who led Neenah to an FVA title and sectional appearance last fall. Neenah had a 12-6-3 record and the league title was its 30th in the 42-year history of the FVA.
