Luka Doncic excited to learn from LeBron James this season
Luka Doncic tells media about his excitement to join the LA Lakers in a blockbuster trade that will allow him to play alongside his NBA idol, LeBron James.
The NBA’s trade deadline is fast approaching, and in these final 48 hours, the urgency and significance of this short window cannot be overstated. Anything is possible as teams scramble to make last-minute deals – as evidenced by the jaw-dropping trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks over the weekend.
The Mavericks and Lakers completed a blockbuster deal involving All-Stars Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis, along with several other incentives in an unprecedented swap. This trade is expected to significantly alter the current dynamics – and futures – of both teams. Another massive deal saw the Sacramento Kings sending De’Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs, while also adding Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine as part of a three-team trade.
Following the Mavericks-Lakers trade, three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets stated, “nobody is safe in this league.”
One of the most pressing questions in the NBA right now is where Jimmy Butler will land after his relationship with the Miami Heat took a hit. Both sides want a trade, but there remains a lot of uncertainty – can the Heat find the right team or teams to give them an equitable return and will Butler agree to go to the team in question?
When is the NBA trade deadline?
The NBA trade deadline closes on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 3 p.m. ET. Teams have until then to make an official deal – though trades can be publicly annouced after that time as long as deals are officially agreed to.
