CALUMET, Mich. (WLUC) – One of the top high school volleyball players in the U.P. is staying home next year. Calumet’s Maddie Torola inked her commitment to Michigan Tech Tuesday morning.
Torola was a big reason why the Copper Kings finished with a 29-5-2 record in 2024, despite dealing with a leg injury down the stretch of the season.
She led the team in kill efficiency, blocks per set and aces per set.
The all-state senior notched a season-high 19 kills in a four-set win over Kingsford, and she totaled 40 kills on the day Calumet won the D3-D4 Showdown in Livonia.
Torola will reunite with her former club coach, first-year Michigan Tech head coach Cindy Pindral.
