Blue Sakuya defeated Violet Iris 27-23 in the 13th round of the 2024-25 Japanese Women’s Handball League H at Yamagashi Gymnasium in Japan on the 8th.
Blue Sakuya Kagoshima firmly maintained the top spot with 10 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss (21 points), while Violet Iris maintained the ninth place with 3 wins and 8 losses (6 points).
Blue Sakuya led the attack with seven goals by Arisa Kinjo and four by Aichi Ijichi, while goalkeeper Nozomi Takarada played an important role in his team’s victory with seven saves.
On the other hand, for Violet Iris, Honoka Morimoto scored seven goals, First Look Fruit Palm scored six, and Mina Kamiya and Mika Hanamura made 10 and 7 saves, respectively, but they failed to prevent the team’s defeat.
From the beginning of the game, the two teams engaged in a fierce battle. Blue Sakuya took the early lead by scoring with a strong defense and a quick counterattack. However, Violet Iris led 11-7 just before the end of the first half thanks to consecutive points scored by Honoka Morimoto.
Blue Sakuya, who fought back, scored four goals in a row at the end of the first half to end the first half with a 13-12 comeback.
At the start of the second half, Blue Sakuya quickly widened the gap to 16–13, and Violet Iris scored four goals in a row to tie the score at 17–17. However, Blue Sakuya won the game by widening the gap to 22-18 and 24-19 thanks to consecutive goals by Arisa Kinzo and Sakuta Kanon.
After 20 minutes of the second half, Blue Sakuya took the lead perfectly, breaking through the chase of Violet Iris to finish 27-23.
